Every player on the Nevada Union varsity girls water polo team found the scoring column Tuesday as the Miners sank host Antelope 23-4.
NU's trio of senior captains led the way on the offensive end. Taylor Bowen scored five goals, while Angela Murphy and Natalie Fernandez each had four scores. Murphy also totaled five assists in the victory.
“That's a nice start for us as we head into the Reno Tournament this weekend,” said NU coach Craig Zetterberg.
The Miners improved to 2-0 overall.
Nevada Union also won the junior varsity match, defeating Antelope 16-8. Sidney Chambers had four goals for the Miners, while Robin Fernandez had four goals and three assists.

Golf: NU fourth at Dixon Invite
Nevada Union's varsity golf team took fourth place in Tuesday's Dixon Invitational at Yolo Fliers Club in Woodland. Union Mine won the tournament with a 447 team score. Oak Ridge was second with 459, Galt third with 462, Nevada Union fourth with 467 and Napa fifth with 472.
NU was led by Chelsey Love's 18-hole round of 86 and Emilie Arnoldi's 88. Sydney Zink shot 92, Madeline Wagnecht 100 and Megan Arnett 101.
The Miners open Sierra Foothill League action on Sept. 14, hosting Granite Bay at Alta Sierra Country Club.
