Sierra Nevada Children's Services has served the needs of families with children in Nevada County for more than 31 years, providing child care assistance and early childhood education to income-eligible working families and families working their way through college.
The non-profit offers child care referral services, parenting classes, budgeting workshops, play groups and community resource and referral services, cycling more than $250,000 per month back into the local economy in the form of reimbursement to local childcare providers.
But like so many non-profit groups, Sierra Nevada Children's Services often struggles with funding.
In response, the group has collected works of art from children throughout the county and will display them for the public at an evening of local wine, cheese, and art for sale. This project will help to provide continued funding for the programs that support families who are working toward financial self-sufficiency.
The art sale will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, at Sierra Nevada Children's Services, 256 Buena Vista St., second floor, in Grass Valley. For information, call 272-8866.
