The Eagle Scout project of Henry Alkire was dedicated at the tennis courts in Pioneer Park Aug. 9 in a ceremony conducted by Alkire.
The tennis backboard was dedicated to Scoutmaster Bob Treiberg of Troop 24, BSA.
Nevada City Mayor Robert Bergman and Nevada City Director of Public Works Verne Taylor both congratulated Alkire.
The labors of many boys and the generosity of sponsors are noted on a plaque which is mounted beside the backboard.
Alkire is a 16-year-old senior at Nevada Union High School, where he is President of the Entrepreneurs Club and a member of the cross-country team.
