Nevada City area
• Downtown Nevada City and surrounding neighborhood.• Eddie the Elf traditionally receives Christmas wish lists on Pasquale Road, on the left, just past Red Dog Road.
Grass Valley area
• Downtown Grass Valley and surrounding neighborhoods.• Linden Avenue, off West Main Street near downtown — a street lined with lovely Victorians.
• 537 Brighton St. (between Chapel Street and McCourtney Road).
• Corner of Vistamont Drive and Samantha Way, Grass Valley (Morgan Ranch, first right off Morgan Ranch Drive).
•10524 Mercury Drive, off Highway 174 east of town.
• Sherwood Forest neighborhood: Archery Way, Friar Tuck, Nottingham and Robinhood streets, off Auburn Road south of town.
• 13056 Somerset Drive.
• 15756 Rattlesnake Road (close to Dog Bar Road, south of town); take circular driveway. This display by homeowner Gary Fosberg features 69,000 lights, Santa's Transportation Department and 30 inflatables. Tune Radio to 93.1 to match music playing outside. From 5 to 9:30 p.m. daily.
• 11196 Squirrel Creek Road, near Adams Avenue just west of Grass Valley. This display by homeowner Chuck Patterson has been going for about 30 years and includes carnival rides. It is dedicated to his baby daughter, Melisa, who died of sudden infant death symdrome. Look for Melisa's blue angel.
Cedar Ridge area
• 11300 Reed Place, off Highway 174 about half mile east of Union Hill School. Turn right on Rattlesnake Road; Reed Place is the first left.
Alta Sierra
• 18213 Wallis Drive. Go down Lime Kiln, turn right on Patricia, continue on and take a right on Wallis.
South County
• 21817 Meyer Ravine Road. From Highway 49, take Wolf Road, turn left at Garden Bar Road, left at Meyer Ravine Road. Worth the drive, readers say.
Penn Valley
• 18410 Siesta Drive. From Penn Valley Drive, turn onto East Street across from entrance to Western Gateway Park; turn left onto Siesta Drive; third and fourth houses on right.ooo
